Gene Burkert is a woodwind performer who plays many different styles. He grew up in Sunnyvale, CA and lived in Los Angeles before moving back to the Bay Area 5 years ago. He has been fortunate to play with many great stars in a variety of settings. Performance highlights include the '96, '99 and 2000 Grammy Awards Orchestra with Celine Dion, John Williams, James Horner, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Whitney Houston. He played on the Jay Leno Show, Paul Rodriguez Show, Today Show, and Incredible Sunday. He's performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Long Beach Symphony Pops, Members of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Rodgers, Herbie Hancock, Björk, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Bill Holman Big Band, Melissa Manchester, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Louie Bellson, Natalie Cole, Liza Minelli, Diana Krall, San Jose Symphony, Bob Mintzer, Linda Ronstadt, Freddie Hubbard, and the Tonight Show Band.

Broadway shows he's played include Carousel, Showboat, Chicago, Fosse, Big, Kiss Me Kate, Scarlet Pimpernel, Saturday Night Fever, The Wiz, Peter Pan, Ragtime, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, Le Mis, The Producers, and Singing In The Rain. He is currently playing in White Christmas.

Studio recordings include Higher Learning, Mambo Kings, Aladdin King of Thieves, Proudheart TNN, Sinatra Mini Series, Bump in the night cartoon ABC, Cybill, Dating Game, The Fugitive.

Gene has his own cd  "The System", and will release his 2nd cd "The Jazz Palette" and is working on a few new projects that will be released next year. He will also appear on cd's from Michael Smolens and Steffen Cuen
