Saxophonist Gene Burkert has played with a variety of stars including Poncho Sanchez, Chicago,and Brian Setzer. He’s backed Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Andrea Bocelli as part of the Grammy Orchestra. His latest solo project is a smooth jazz cd entitled Secret Passion which is a cd of all original material. The songs combine improvisational elements with pop music in stylings reminiscent of Spyro Gyra and Kirk Whalum. After being road tested last year at summer concerts and in San Francisco clubs, Secret Passion is being released and offers memorable melodies crafted by a versatile and mature talent.
